The Walk
Traffic was really bad on the A1 south between Junction 10 to south of Junction 9. Traffic took about 45 minutes to travel between the 2 junctions, meaning that some people could not get to the walk in time for the start.
The weather forecast for the walk was very bad, although the actual weather for the walk was not quite as bad as forecast, but this also limited the number of people on the walk.
This was our 1st visit to Bramfield.
Our small group turned left out of the Grandison pub and headed along Bury Lane then left again onto the High Road. We soon turned right into Gobions Lane which we followed until Great Gobions Farm, where we turned left onto a farm track leading to Perrywood wood Lane with the railway line to our right in the distance. At the junction with Perrywood wood Lane we had a refreshment break.
We then turned left and followed the footpath up a slight incline into Bramfield woods. We decided to keep the walk fairly short and turned left in the wood due to the increasingly inclement weather. The path lead down to Winding Short Lane where we turned left and headed back towards Bury Lane and the dry and welcoming Grandison pub, getting back by about 12 noon. After a change of footwear, we had well deserved meal and were joined by two other members of the walking group.
The map of the walk is shown below
